The limit of quantum correlations
Quantum entanglement is when measurement results of two systems may be more strongly correlated than classical intuition predicts. The inequalities developed by John Bell empirically test whether nature can be explained by a broad class of models based on both local and predetermined values.
What did the 2015 experiment show?
The experiment, carried out in Delft, presented a Bell test that closed the locality and detection gaps in the same experiment with electron spins 1.3 kilometers apart. The results showed correlations that were incompatible with the local-realistic models examined. This makes it difficult to defend a simple picture in which all properties are available in the classical sense before measurement is made.
No faster than light message
The experiment does not show that information can be sent faster than light. Individual measurement results are random; For meaningful comparison, the records on both sides must be brought together through a classical communication channel. Bell tests constrain certain local-hidden-variable models, they do not single-handedly pick which philosophical interpretation of quantum mechanics is correct.
discussion question
If nature does not conform to our classical intuitions, should we change our intuitions or our understanding of reality?
