Bell inequality
Bell tests empirically test the limits of correlation allowed by local latent variable models. The gap-free experiments contributed by NIST closed important experimental gaps in classical explanations, such as measurement selection and detection.
What doesn't show?
The results strongly support the observed statistics of entanglement. However, it does not indicate that a controllable message is being sent between two people faster than the speed of light. Individual measurement results are random; Comparison is required to convey information.
Experiment and comment
Experimental data excludes certain classes of models. There are different philosophical approaches regarding the ontological interpretation of quantum theory. “Experiment result” and “interpretation of reality” should not be combined in the same sentence.
discussion question
When an experiment goes against our classical intuition, should we change our intuition or our model? What repetition or check would convince you?
